What is AI Training for Finance Teams?

AI Training for Finance Teams is private training for FP&A, controllership, reporting, treasury, internal audit and CFO-office teams. It can cover variance analysis, scenario planning, testing a forecast, management commentary, document review, checking exceptions and safe automation. The programme uses approved or made-up financial data. It keeps no-code AI help apart from Python and model building, and keeps reconciliation, the audit trail and human sign-off in plain view. It is AI for finance professionals who need results they can reconcile and sign off.

Who this page is for

Relevant audiences

  • FP&A and business-finance teams
  • Financial reporting, controllership and accounting teams
  • Treasury and cash-management analysts
  • Internal audit, controls and CFO-office teams

Useful when

  • Routine analysis and commentary is done by hand but is easy to check
  • Teams use AI for formulas or finance messages without the same controls
  • Finance leaders need to tell AI help apart from model building
  • A pilot needs a task you can measure, an owner and a way to reconcile

Scope boundary: Training does not give accounting, tax, investment, audit or legal advice. You own your financial policy, materiality, source systems, model testing, regulatory duties and final sign-off.

Decision guide

Start with control, then decide where AI can help

In finance, the gain comes from a shorter, clearer process, not from skipping reconciliation or professional judgement.

Which source counts?

Name the ledger, ERP export, approved model or report, and make sure every figure can be traced back to it.

What must reconcile?

Agree the totals, breakdowns, period rules, materiality and checks before you accept a formula, query or commentary.

Help, or a model?

Drafting commentary is different from building or relying on a forecast model. The skills and controls needed should reflect that.

Who signs off?

A qualified finance owner checks the inputs, assumptions, exceptions and wording before anything is used.

Finance tasks

Practise controlled AI help across finance work

Each exercise starts from a source and ends with a reconciliation or review step.

Variance analysis and commentary

Draft a structured explanation from checked budget, actual and driver figures.

Practise
Keep the numbers, your idea of what drove them, the business context and follow-up questions apart.
Control
Every figure and important statement is matched to the approved source.

Testing scenarios and forecasts

Use AI to bring out assumptions, suggest what-ifs and explain other scenarios.

Practise
Write down the drivers, ranges, dependencies and where your judgement overrides a suggestion.
Control
AI output is not a tested forecast or a financial recommendation.

Management and board commentary

Draft a management pack, executive summary or finance message.

Practise
Check accuracy, what matters, tone, the audience and that it matches the checked tables.
Control
Sensitive results stay in approved systems and need sign-off from an authorised person.

Close and reconciliation support

Map a checklist, look into exceptions and draft follow-up questions from an approved case.

Practise
Link each exception to its evidence and a named owner.
Control
The assistant does not post entries or certify a reconciliation.

Internal-audit support

Draft a control description, sampling question or finding from made-up evidence.

Practise
Keep evidence, criteria, what happened, why, its effect and the management response apart.
Control
AI does not replace audit judgement, independence or evidence rules.

Finance automation plan

Define one clear task that could be automated in a spreadsheet, BI, no-code or technical tool.

Practise
Write down the inputs, rules, exceptions, controls, owner and how you will know it works.
Control
Live automation needs separate building, testing and change approval.

Practical value

What your finance team should be able to show

An output is only useful when another reviewer can trace and question it.

Reconciled analysis

Formulas, figures and commentary trace back to an approved source and period.

Assumptions in the open

Scenarios and forecasts state their drivers, how sure they are and any overrides.

Controlled communication

Sensitive data, important statements and who receives them stay within approved processes.

A pilot you can measure

One task has a starting point, an owner, checks, a cost limit and a follow-up measure.

Method

From your first call to skills used at work

The same five steps every time keep the training tied to your team’s real work, with the costs and delivery details set out in writing.

  1. 01

    Talk to our L&D lead

Chandan, our corporate L&D expert, asks who the training is for, what they need, any limits on delivery and what should change afterwards.

  2. 02

    Expert check

A Technovids subject expert checks your team’s starting level, tools, examples, risks and the output you want.

  3. 03

    Written proposal

It confirms the agenda, format, dates, group size, what is included and excluded, and the price.

  4. 04

    Live training

Short explanations, demos, practice and feedback, ending with a task from your team’s own work.

  5. 05

    Handover

Your team keeps the agreed templates and work, and you receive the completion or follow-up details set out in the proposal.

What you receive

What finance teams can take away

The proposal confirms the role route and what is included.

  • Finance AI control checklist

Questions on source, reconciliation, materiality, privacy, review and sign-off.

  • Checked task output

A variance commentary, scenario, report draft or audit case, with the checks shown.

  • Role and skills map

No-code finance, BI, Python and model-building groups, kept apart.

  • Pilot measurement plan

Starting point, quality, time, review effort, owner and when to decide.

Safe application

Safe use is built into every exercise, not added at the end

Every programme teaches your people to work within your company’s rules, with a person clearly in charge of the result.

Use approved accounts and data

Your team learns what they can type into an AI tool, what must stay out, and when to use an approved workspace or a made-up example.

Check before you use it

Facts, sums, sources, tone and the effect on any decision are checked against the original material.

Keep a person in charge

AI can help with a step, but a named person still checks the output and owns the decision or message.

Measure one clear task

Teams compare quality, effort, risk and take-up on one defined task, instead of claiming general time savings.

Questions before deciding

Frequently asked questions

These answers cover what this page offers. Your written proposal sets out the terms for your own programme.

Is this suitable for finance professionals without coding experience?

Yes. The no-code route needs finance knowledge and comfort with spreadsheets or reports, not programming. Python and model building are separate technical routes with clear prerequisites.

Can training use SAP, Oracle, Tally or another ERP?

The programme can use made-up or approved exports that look like your own data. Product-specific navigation, setup or live integration is included only when it is agreed and supported.

Does the programme cover model risk and auditability?

The relevant routes cover assumptions, where data came from, testing, documentation, overrides and human sign-off, at training level. Formal model testing, reading regulations or audit assurance need your own qualified teams.

How is this different from financial-modelling training?

This programme is about how AI can help with finance analysis, commentary, review and some technical tasks. It does not replace a course on accounting, valuation or building financial models in spreadsheets.

Can FP&A, treasury and internal audit attend together?

They can share the basics, privacy, review and communication practice. Role exercises should then split, because forecasting, cash management and independent audit use different data and methods, and answer to different people.

Can participants use confidential financial data?

The safe default is made-up or approved masked data. Any real finance data needs your explicit approval, an approved system and the right access, retention and review controls.
